Greetings everyone, a reminder that the Archery moot and Picnic has been rescheduled to Sunday, June 1st starting at noon in Bloomington, MN. Details on the moot and
answers to potential questions are included below, but if i missed any
key details that you need send me a note.
What: Archery Moot and Picnic
When: Sunday June 1st Starting at Noon (a little earlier then normal practice time)
Where:
Marsh lake archery range in Bloomington. Take 494 to France Ave and go
south to approximately 94th. Range is on the east side of the road
(Left), across the road from the activity fields.
Site Fee: None, This is a free archery range so there is no cost to attend.
Activities: Archery Challenge to select the new Baronial Archery Champion.
Picnic
A Picnic you say: we will be providing grills for you to use, bring your own meat and any item you may wish to share.
Facilities:
There is no shade or running water on site, we will bring some shade
and the water, but feel free to bring your own as well.
I don't
have the gear to participate: The barony has a good supply
of loaner equipment and anyone can stop on by to cheer on those
competing for the title and to enjoy the picnic. Plus, this is a great
opportunity to come out and see the different types of equipment that
people use and to try it out before you ever have to buy any gear.
I'll have the basic repair kit on hand and can help you get any
existing equipment fixed up if necessary.
I don't want to
compete for the championships, can i still shoot?: Absolutely, the
champion will be determined from the highest scores (with shoot-off) of
those declaring that they want to be considered for the championship,
anyone else can participate and shoot at the same targets. this means
that if you know of anyone from outside the barony that also wants to
come and play, feel free to send this info along to them (Rockhaven,
Silfren Mere, Rivenwood Tower, etc...)
What
is the tournament format / Schedule: The targets for selecting the
champion will be up starting at noon, Archers competing for the title
will get a single warm up round on each target if they like, declaring
at the start if it is for score or for practice. This schedule will
allow for archers to arrive later if needed, and they can warm up on
other targets as well before shooting for score. Since there is a head
to head portion of the tournament, we do need the archers to complete
their scored rounds by 2:30 (plan on starting by 1:30 to give yourself an hour for warm up and scoring rounds), at which point the head to head portion
between the top 2 scoring archers will be run. We will keep the
targets up for as long as people want to shoot after that.
What
types of targets are available: We will have a number of different
novelty targets, some of which are brought back from previous baronial
champion shoots (poker shoot, 6 spot target), and others which are new
(mini clout shoot, Darts, castle carnival shoot). Not all of the
targets will be used for determining the champion, some are designed
for fun with groups of archers. We will also have standard targets
available so don't be afraid to come out and try your hand at archery,
even if you are just getting started.
If there are any other questions please feel free to let me know and i hope to see you at the moot on June 1st at noon.
