Greetings to the list,
I know that out there there's a huge variety of things that relate to armor
combat! An example is: what research is there to show what a chiurgeon
would do to treat "it's only a flesh" wound? What kind of thing might a
warrior carry to remind him or her of home? What depictions of conflict or
valor might have been created? What meal might have been offered at a
triumphant return home? If our warrior had sent word ahead, what would our
warrior's family have worn to welcome him or her home? What fighting songs
might have been sung to keep morale up? Well, here's to bringing all those
things into the open for display!
It's my honor to manage the display of Arts and Sciences at the event known
as It's Only A Flesh Wound. There will be both a display area and an area
for bean-count competition, with 2 kinds of beans used as votes: one to be
used by any royalty present, and the other to be used by the general
populace. The artist or craftsman will bring their item to me before noon
on the day of the event, and we will arrange the item, and any written
documentation, for view or competition. By the way, if you have a
videotaped version of a song or play, let me know in advance and I'll bring
my TV that runs VHS so we can see that on the day.
I say "it ain't braggin if you done it" and "let's show off"! This event
is, after all, meant to be a celebration of the culture around armored
combat.
Kristyan, the event autocrat, has informed me that there will be an hour set
aside for active arts (singing, dancing, music making, and such like - maybe
a play about combat???), and I'll have there a sign-up sheet for gentles
wanting to take advantage of the opportunity.
So! If yours is an art or science you would like to add to the enjoyment of
this event, feel welcomed to contact me and/or bring it to the event.
In Service,
Ermina of Jararvellir, AoA
