[Nordskogen] Re: Baronial transition -- updated transition policy (NOT official notes)

Baroness Bridget here.  For those not familiar with Nordskogen's policies 
and/or not at Wednesday's business meeting:

Attendees reviewed Nordkogen's existing transition policy, keeping in mind 
Kingdom law (which was Midrealm last time) and the TANG deputy's policy 
(both of which can be found at 
http://web.northshield.org/officers/seneschal/#handbook).

According to my NON-official (I am not the Seneschal -- Ellen's notes are 
the official) notes, these are the approved changes:


BARONY OF NORDSKOGEN
Baronial Transition Policies
These are the policies regarding the transition of the Baron and Baroness of 
Nordskogen, determined by the populace, and approved this 18th day of July, 
2007.

II. GROUP STATUS
It is the will of the people of Nordskogen to remain organized as a Barony 
within the
Society for Creative Anachronism.

III. TERM OF OFFICE
The term of the office of the baronage will be up to five (5) years. At the 
end of that time, there will be another poll to determine the baronage.

IV. TERM LIMITS
There will be no limitation on the number of terms that a Baron/ess can 
serve. At the end of any term, the sitting baronage may run again.

V. JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the baronage will remain as set by 
Corpora, with one
additional amendment: The baronage is expected to make a reasonable attempt 
to visit all of the Barony’s subsidiaries (ie, cantons, colleges) as often 
as possible.

VI. POLLING CRITERIA
Any person in the Barony of Nordskogen, whether an SCA member or a 
non-member,
may be included in this poll.
A.Members will receive their polls via the appointed moderator, through 
membership information received from the SCA corporate office.
B.Polls will be made available for non-members at announced baronial 
meetings.  It is the responsibility of the non-member to complete and return 
the poll, at their own expense, to the moderator.
C.Add a simple “age-marker” to the poll.
D.An preliminary, internal poll will be done if there are more than four 
tickets.  Four or less tickets will go straight to the official TANG 
advisory poll.

VII. CANDIDATE CRITERIA
A.Polling will be by “ticket”, ie., the populace will be choosing the office 
of the baronage, whether that be one candidate running alone, or two 
candidates running as a pair.


VIII. STYLE OF THE POLL
The poll will contain the names of all the candidates, organized as tickets, 
from which
tickets the populace will then select their choices, and rank them as first, 
second, etc.

IX. PUBLICATION OF CANDIDATES
The list of candidates will be published on a continuing basis, as 
nominations are accepted. This listing will be made available on the most 
widely accessible source, the Barony of Nordskogen’s website and published 
in the monthly baronial newsletter.

X. CANDIDATE NIGHT
“Candidate Night” for the populace to meet and talk with the potential 
candidates will be selected and the format for this evening will be 
determined by an ad-hoc committee, and will be duly announced in advance of 
the event.
