For those that are not necessarily on the Hall (please pass on to other
lists to help people understand).

Greeting y'all,
Tournament of Chivalry is about 2 weeks away. For those of you who may
never have been to one before, it is NOT a tournament exclusively for
knights & masters. It is a day dedicated to armored combat, and your
chance to work with the Chiv to improve your skills.
So if you are curious about this event, I'd like to dispel a few myths
about ToC, and encourage you to attend.
Myth #1
> I've been told that ToC isn't for the faint of
> heart, so it takes a lot of courage to step out on that
> field and face the knights.
Everyone was at your skill level once. For some it was a long time ago,
but most haven't forgotten what it was like the first time they faced a
knight in combat. I think you'll find the knights are courteous and
cooperative.
Myth #2
> ToC originated as a forum for the hot-stick unbelts to show the chiv
> what they've got. I've only recently authorized, so there's no point
> for me to go.
ToC is open to all authorized fighters, and there will be a variety of
fighting activities & classes. This ToC will also include time for the
Youth fighters at the beginning of the event.
Myth #3
> Those knights hit so hard, the only thing I'm going to get is
> bruised and embarrassed.
When the knights are holding the field, you can and should tell them
what you want (sometimes they ask). Common choices are:
- I'd like 3 bouts and perhaps some advice on improving my skills.
- Can you show me how to throw a wrap shot? I can't seem to get any
power on them.
- I'm gearing up to fight in Crown, so I'd like one Crown Round, and
bring on the thunder!
- My friend says I need to improve my footwork, but I'm having a hard
time combining the sword motion with the foot motion. Can you show me
how they work together?
If the waiting line is long, the knights will be limiting their time to
about 10 minutes with each opponent. Later in the day when the crowd
begins to thin a bit, they will be able to spend time with you on more
complex topics.
If you have other questions about ToC, please feel free to reply.
In service,
Kaydian
