[Nordskogen] Letter and October Minutes

Good morning,

 

Apparently something happened to my email and my letter to the Quill and the October business meeting minutes didn't make it.  So I'm including them below for everyone.

Greetings!

 

First of all, I want to thank my deputy, Lady Ursula, for stepping in on such short notice when I was ill and could not make the October business meeting.

 

October business was the deadline to receive letters of intent for the two open positions.  We have THREE applicants for Minister of Arts and Sciences!  Christian d’Hiver (Chris Mortika), Constanza de Sevilla (Denise Bell) and Una Duckfoot (Pam Arnold).  We will vote on this position at the November business meeting.

 

The other open position is Chirurgeon.  At this time we have no applicants, so this position will stay open until someone applies, and then we will have a vote of confidence.

 

Our Exchequer, Viscountess Anne, requested to extend her term until June.  This would give her more time to train up a successor and take them through some of our biggest reports.  The middle of the year is also a better time for this position to turn over, during a slower period, rather than at the end of the year when most of the reports are due.  The barony has agreed with this.

 

On November 11 our barony is hosting “Combat. Period. (A Historical Combat Symposium)”, with classes on several period combat styles.  I hope our fighters will take advantage of this opportunity to meet with fighters from all over Northshield and learn from each other.

 

Now I want to remind everyone that Twelfth Night is approaching, and I know our Baron and Baroness would love to be able to give everyone the recognition they deserve for their hard work during the year.  But they can’t see what everyone is doing all the time.  So send in those recommendations!  And I hope to see you all there.

I.  Officer Business

 

2 positions open – letters of intent due tonight

(modern and SCA name, SCA membership number and expiration date, and the position you are interested in)

- Minister of Arts and Sciences, 3 applications received, vote at November business.

- Chirurgeon, no applications so far, position will stay open until someone applies

 

Exchequer – Anne wants to extend her term to June 07, barony (says five more years) approved this change.
