Some FAQs about "Combat.Period.", the Historical Combat Arts &
Sciences event, happening this weekend in Nordskogen:
Q: Will I need any special equipment or gear for any of the classes?
A: Well, yes and no. Check out the class descriptions at
http://www.users.qwest.net/~skeuper/Class%20descriptions.html
to see what each instructor is requiring.
Q: Should we wear garb?
A: Yes, please, but make sure it is something comfortable that allows
you to move easily (so, say, full Elizabethan gowns are probably a bad
choice for this venue :). However, there is at least one class where a
t-shirt is recommended (see above).
Q: Are there any restrictions on what we can and can't wear?
A: Non-marking shoes are required. Any shoes that leave a perceptible
mark on the gym floor will not be permitted.
Q: Okay, I looked at the class descriptions: where the heck am I going
to get a seven to nine foot staff?
A: Uh...keeping it G-rated, I recommend a closet rod or the like from
your favorite big box home improvement store.
Q: Is there going to be fighting at the event?
A: Nope. It's an A&S event, and we don't want to blur the line between
"study" to "fight" this time around.
Q: Please?
A: Nope.
Q: Bugger.
A: Language, please.
Q: Is there going to be any fencing at the event?
A: Okay, now you're just being bothersome.
Q: Am not. It's a legitimate question.
A: No it isn't. Go away.
Q: How about equestrian?
A: In a gym???
Q: We could bring in tarps....
A: Leave. Now.
Q: Full-on combat illumination?
A: Go!
Q: Hey, it's A&S. Those quills can be sharp!
A: La-la-la-la-la-la-la!
Q: How about...ow! Ow-ow-ow-ow!
A: And *that's* how you perform a joint lock, class....
Saturday (yes, THIS Saturday), Nov.11 in the barony of Nordskogen.
