Ten years ago, I first heard of the SCA at a college activities fair. The
enthusiastic folks told me I could sew my own clothes, among other things. I
hated to sew. I walked away from the SCA.
Six years ago, I was bored and needed a hobby. My sister was in the SCA, so I
knew more about it. After a meeting or two, I knew I needed more clothes than
the quick tunic that I cobbled together for a Ren Faire wedding. I checked the
newsletter calendar, asked around, met Cassandy, and that Thursday night found
myself in her basement, surrounded by books, fabric, and people.
Now, and for the last couple of years, I've been hosting my own sewing workdays
in the East and Atlantia. I *had* to get myself a cutting table as big as
Sandy's, because anything less wouldn't be acceptable. Newcomers browse through
my books, and pet my fabric.
Thanks Sandy. :-D
