  Not the best picture as I can't make out any detail.
   
  My primary source for making shoes is in the Museum of London Book: Shoes and Pattens. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0851158382/102-7289287-5578560?v=glance&n=283155
  The shoes in the book range from 1100 to 1400's and are native to London so this might not work for everyone, but I found it a good place to start when learning more about the Medieval cobbler and his methods.
